The Post 16 service provides challenge and support to post 16 education providers to provide high quality and appropriate education offer that facilitates participation and career progression.
Post 16 oversees three main aspects of work:
- Engage with post 16 providers to provide challenge and support in order to promote high standards and determine improvement and to identify and promote good practice. A Post 16 Framework supports this work.
The Post 16 Improvement Forum is the active operational group that facilitates this activity.
- Promote 100% participation in education, employment or training for all young people.
The Participation and Progression Forum is the operational group that provides overview to this activity
- Ensure that all young people and their parents / carers receive independent and timely information, advice and guidance to make informed decisions about their options and onwards career pathway. Encourage the development of employability skills and work-readiness in preparation for joining the work force.
The CEEET Forum (Careers Education, Employability, Enterprise & Transitions) facilitates meeting this objective.
All of the Forums welcome representation from schools, colleges, work based learning providers, third sector etc. There is no charge.
The work of the Post 16 service is overseen by the Skills & Progression Board, which has replaced the Increasing Participation Board.
