The Post 16 service provides challenge and support to post 16 education providers to provide high quality and appropriate education offer that facilitates participation and career progression.
Post 16 oversees three main aspects of work:
- Engage with post 16 providers providing challenge and support to promote high standards and determine improvement and to identify and promote good practice.
The Post 16 Improvement Forum meets termly to facilitate this activity and to share policy updates and best practice.
- Promote 100% participation in education, employment or training for all young people.
- Support schools and colleges to meet the expectations of the Careers Strategy to build a world class careers system that will help young people and adults to choose the career that is right for them.
The Careers & Inspiration Forum meets termly and is led by the Careers & Enterprise Company.
All of the Forums welcome representation from schools, colleges and relevant partners. There is no charge for attending.
The work of the Post 16 service is overseen by the Skills & Progression Board, which replaced the Increasing Participation Board in 2017.
