Trade union representatives are entitled to reasonable paid time off from their regular job to enable them to perform their union duties and to undertake relevant training, by law. Trade union members, including representatives, may also ask for unpaid time off to undertake activities. Together, these arrangements constitute facility time.

It is important for the Governing Body to have an overview and assurance over the key risk areas affecting the school and their potential impacts, whether threats or opportunities. An assessment of risk allows us to make a decision of those that are acceptable for us to take and those where we would propose taking preventative action, on a prioritised basis.
Risks can range from those of an operational nature (for instance, protection of assets and health & safety) to more strategic risks, such as reputational and achievement of objectives.
