Outline

Exploring all the latest information and guidance for assessment in English.

Description

We will explore terminology, Ofsted expectations, effective assessment and moderation principles.
Please bring along collections of evidence (work books, exercise books, independent work, topic books etc.) for at least two children on track to be working at the expected level/ARE and two children who you feel may exceed ARE by the end of the year for Writing. We will focus the peer moderation on English writing using the following documents:
  • the new Teacher Assessment Frameworks for 2018 and beyond for Y2 and Y6,
  • ELGs/Development matters for Early Years/Reception
  • NAHT KPIs for Years 1, 3, 4 and 5.
The training will be delivered by Liz James (Dorchester Middle School) and Beth Ward (Henbury View)

Outcomes

Aims:
1.To consider best practice methods for teaching English across the Primary Phase
2. To explore effective methods for teaching phonics and spelling
3. How to teach English through the use of inspiring texts
4. To be familiar with best practice for assessment in Primary English and to have engaged in moderation activities

Booking Information

This course will charged through the NQT Nexus service £160 (Maintained) or £165 Academy (unless the school has purchased particular NQT Primary Packages, which discount this)
  • NAHT KPIs for Years 1, 3, 4 and 5.

The cost of this course may be covered if your school has already purchased a Primary School Support Package from DCC
