This half day course will cover the foundation phases of phonics (phases 1-4) that are taught within the EYFS.
The session will look at the first four phases of phonics and their importance in laying the foundations for phonics fluency. The session will look at the four phases as detailed in the DfE document ‘Letters and Sounds’ and how these should be taught. We will look at pace, pitch and progression and the importance of this in ensuring children’s progress. There will also be time to explore (and play!) games and activities to use when teraching each of the different phases.
The session is suitable for practitioners working in the EYFS and KS1, but may also be of use to staff delivering interventions in KS2.
