Joint Revisit Inspection of SEND in the Dorset Local Area by Ofsted and the CQC 11-13 Feb 2019

Dear Colleagues in schools and settings,

Following on from my recent communication concerning the forthcoming Ofsted/Care Quality Commission joint re-visit of Dorset SEND services, the letter from Ofsted outlining the plan for the on-line survey and open meeting is attached.  It is really important to note that Ofsted and CQC will only be looking at progress against the following specific areas from the Written Statement of Action (WSOA):

  • Joint Working. Education, Health & Social Care need to work more closely together.
  • Timeliness. Education, Health & Care Plans need to be produced more quickly.
  • Communication. Parents and carers need to be more involved in decision making, and get better help sooner
  • Monitoring and Quality Assurance. The quality of what is being done needs to be better monitored and, if necessary, challenged to improve.

Can I request that you help us by forwarding the Ofsted/CQC letter to any parent/carer who has an involvement with SEND at any age or level.  This should include those benefitting from SEN support.  We will send it out directly where possible but we are not yet in a position to communicate electronically with all parents. Your help facilitating the greatest possible distribution of this letter would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,

Andy.
